Karaj
Karaj metropolis (Persian: كرج) is a city in Iran, and is the center of Alborz province. It is situated 20 km west of Tehran, at the foot of Alborz mountains. It had an estimated population of 1,909,441 in 2010, however the city is increasingly becoming an extension of the metropolitan Tehran.Its area is about 200 square km.
Karaj is located in the way that connects 11 western provinces of Iran to the capital,Tehran.
Nowadays, the function of the city is most in the field of scientific and technological researches and many national researching centers are located there.Also, some old and large universities are there. Becoming the center of Alborz province and independent of Tehran administratively, Karaj will develop rapidly and it is predicted that the city will become one of the most important cities of Iran soon.
